Yunning Ni

Biography

Yunning Ni is a PhD student in Public Economics and Economic History at the Hong Kong Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences. He is currently interested in the institutional change in the late Qing China, especially in the fields of canal governance and tribute-grain’s transportation.
Yunning has introduced his work to the public at the China Institutional Economics Annual Conference and the Forum for Young Scholars on Chinese Frontier Studies.
Before entering the PhD program he completed his bachelor’s (in Economics) and master’s (in Public Finance) degrees at Henan University. He was awarded funding by HNU to visit at the Oxford University and the York University in England, and the Xamk, Finland. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to serve as the exit assessor for the Poverty Alleviation Campaign of Chinese government in 2019.
