Yale University is one of the top private universities in New Haven, United States. We collaborate with partners based at Yale, building on longstanding academic collaborations with our director, who was a tenured professor before joining the HKU Business School.
Hong Kong Institute of Economics and Business Strategy
A sister research centre under the HKU Business School, the Hong Kong Institute of Economics and Business Strategy (HIEBS) has been the leading research centre for economic policy and business strategy in Hong Kong and it is also an Area of Excellence (AoE) designated and funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC). HIEBS has been a longstanding collaborative partner of the HKU Quantitative History (QH) Group, providing support for QH initiatives from their inception, even predating the group's successful bidding of the AoE grant, which marked the second award received by the HKU Business School.
International Society for Quantitative History
The International Society for Quantitative History (IntlSocQH) has been a longstanding collaborative partner of the HKU Quantitative History (QH) Group. It is a Section 88 charity in Hong Kong dedicated to promoting, supporting, and enhancing the advancement of education, particularly in research and knowledge dissemination in quantitative history, in Hong Kong and globally. The society organizes workshops and summer school programs for undergraduate and postgraduate students with a strong interest in quantitative historical research. IntlSocQH played a pivotal role in launching the successful Quantitative History Webinar Series in collaboration with the HKU Business School. IntlSocQH continues to collaborate on the Series, with the Centre for Quantitative History now taking the lead role in driving its success.
Asian Historical Economics Society
The Asian Historical Economics Society (AHES) was founded in 2010 to promote research and training in Asian and global economic history. The Society is based in Japan, and its aims are stated as: "promoting the spread of Asian and global economic history and academic research presentations related thereto, as well as encouraging friendship and cooperation among researchers". The Society brings together scholars from leading research institutions both within and outside Asia to promote pan-Asian research and cooperation in economic history, within the context of fostering a close relationship between Asian and global economic history. The Society hosts the Asian Historical Economics Conferences biennially, with past editions taking place in Tokyo, Venice, Beijing, Seoul, Hong Kong, and Bangkok. The upcoming AHEC 2024 will be held at the University of Hong Kong, hosted by the Centre for Quantitative History.
